We will focus on simple papermaking that you can do at home using an ordinary kitchen blender, picture frames, knitting hoops, and junkmail. We'll also use cookie cutters and stencils to make shaped papers and try out someembedding/inclusions. You can bring dried plants, tissue papers, seeds, yarn, etc. if you would like to add it to your paper.
This is a private workshop for Stephanie Stach. Please do not sign-up for this class unless you are part of Stephanie's group. Thanks!
FYI
We are located inside Disjecta Contemporary Art Center in the Kenton neighborhood in North Portland. The address is 8371 N Interstate Blvd, Studio 2, Portland, OR 97217. Public transit is very close, right off the Yellow Max train and multiple bus lines. Street parking and limited Disjecta parking lot spots are available.
The entrance to the building will likely be locked and I will meet you in the courtyard by the garage door to let you in.
Please wear rubber soled shoes with good traction. The studio floor will be wet.
You should wear clothes that you don't mind getting messy, and/or wear an apron.
We'll make as many papers as we have time/room for during the class. Each paper will be labeled with the student's name and can be picked up the following week. We will contact you about a pick-up time. Or we can arrange to mail your papers to you if you are visiting from out of town.
